About this course
This course is a two-day leadership course available for all NCHDs. The course certificate is recognised as equivalent to the HST mandatory Leadership in Clinical Practice course for those applying for the Specialist Division Register (SDR).
This is a blended course which includes online material that must be completed prior to attending the virtual tutorials. The online material is available through Brightspace.
Course Format
This two-day course is delivered virtually in lecture style with interactive activities throughout.
The first day of the tutorials is designed to introduce the concept of leadership in a clinical context, increasing self-awareness of strengths and limitations, leadership challenges as well as how company culture and strategy impact leadership.
The second day of the tutorials refers to quality improvement, quality in healthcare and how quality improvement and leadership are linked. It also looks at leaders as risk managers, the difference between mentoring and coaching and how immunity to change impacts leadership.
