About This Course

 In this course you will explore how literacy needs such as health literacy, numeracy, digital literacy and language barriers can impact patient wellbeing.


Who Is this Workshop Aimed At?

  • NCHDs working within the Irish Public Health System
  • Physicians whose patients may have literacy needs such as health literacy, numeracy, digital literacy and language barriers
  • Those looking to improve communications skills

What Are The Learning Outcomes?

At the end of this workshop you will:

• Have greater knowledge and understanding of health literacy, numeracy and digital health literacy needs in Ireland;

• Be able to identify and remove literacy related barriers where possible;

• Better understand and practice using literacy friendly approaches;

• Be able to respond sensitively to health literacy, numeracy and digital health literacy needs where necessary and appropriate; and

• Know where people can access literacy supports.


What To Expect:

This 3 hour workshop, desgined by literacy education specialists from SOLAS, will consist of group discussion, guest speaker and subject matter expert input

 

Please note, this course is being delivered by the Adult Literacy for Life Programme Office. For those on CPD-SS the course will cost 3 credits. For those not on the scheme there is an administration fee of €350
