About This Course

In this course you will explore how literacy needs such as health literacy, numeracy, digital literacy and language barriers can impact patient wellbeing.

This 3 hour workshop, delivered by literacy education specialists from NALA, will consist of group discussion, guest speaker and subject matter expert input.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this workshop you will be able to:

• Describe health literacy, numeracy and digital health literacy needs in Ireland

• Identify, manage and remove literacy related barriers where possible

• Apply literacy friendly approaches in your work

• Analyse health literacy, numeracy and digital health literacy needs and respond sensitively

• Explain where literacy supports can be accessed

• NCHDs working within the Irish Public Health System

• Physicians whose patients may have literacy needs such as health literacy, numeracy, digital literacy and language barriers

• Those looking to improve communications skills

Please note, this course is being delivered by the National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA). For those on CPD-SS the course will cost 3 credits. For those not on the scheme there is an administration fee of €350
