Assessing an ill child is an art. The care of infants, children and young people often form a large part of a doctor’s caseload, yet newly qualified doctors can struggle to provide comprehensive child-centred medical care and doctors starting specialist training in paediatrics soon realise that children are not simply small adults.
Our Diploma in Paediatrics is a six-month blended learning programme focused on the diagnosis and management of important and common illnesses in children. It is delivered online by our educational partner iheed and designed to cater for busy healthcare professionals working anywhere in the world.
Drawing on the expertise of highly experienced Consultants in Paediatrics, the programme will teach you how to manage common paediatric issues, including acute and chronic conditions and developmental difficulties. You will learn how to recognise the symptoms of, and manage, the critically ill child and when referral to tertiary paediatric care is required.
"The Diploma in Paediatrics is aimed at doctors working with children who wish to update their knowledge on common paediatric presentations, as children often present to their GP or local Emergency Department with common childhood illness. The diploma focusses on assessing a child by taking a comprehensive history and child friendly approach to examination. Doctors undertaking this diploma will have increased confidence in recognising and managing a sick child, as well as increased understanding of when to refer a child to paediatric specialist services. The combination of online learning and virtual tutorials allows the participant to interact with their peers as well as paediatric experts while balancing it with a busy working life."
