National Education Day for Doctors in Training: Inclusion and Fusion

National Education Day for Doctors in Training: Inclusion and Fusion

28 May 2021 | 2:30pm | Virtual Symposium

The annual National Education Day for Doctors in Training, the highlight of the RCPI Trainee Calendar, takes place as a virtual symposium on Friday, 28 May 2021. The event gives Trainees the opportunity to showcase their excellence in research, case study and clinical audit, while learning from leaders in health and social care, technology and other areas of interest.

This year, the Trainee Committee has selected “Inclusion and Fusion” as the theme for the National Education Day for Doctors in Training. At a time when healthcare delivery has been - in some instances - restricted across the country, we wish to highlight the challenges faced by minorities within our society when seeking to access healthcare.

We are of the strong opinion that by platforming voices who represent those who often need our help most, we will challenge trainees to examine their communication approaches, bias, and viewpoints when interacting with those groups who feel disenfranchised in the healthcare system.

Meet your guest speakers

The RCPI Trainees' Committee is delighted to give you the opportunity to hear from:

  • Bulelani Mfaco - Movement for Asylum Seekers in Ireland

Dr O'Carroll will discuss Disability and Inequalities

  • Prof. Cliona Ni Cheallaigh - Inclusion medicine and Inequalities

There will be an opportunity to interact with our speakers in a live Question & Answer session on the day.

Trainee Awards Ceremony

Our annual Trainee Awards ceremony will also take place during the symposium.

Showcasing their talents and achievements in research, trainee doctors from across Ireland will compete for the Corrigan Medal, the William Stokes Research Award, the David Mitchell Award, and the Dorothy Stopford Price Medal.
