This programme provides the foundations to commence a career in Occupational Medicine, a dynamic specialty that is evolving and growing.
Occupational medicine ensures that workplaces and practice are safe and healthy, allowing employees to be fit for work and at the same time exposed to decreased health risk at the workplace. It has a vital part to play in rehabilitating employees back into work after injury or sickness. This can involve preventative programmes such as immunisations, health surveillance, observing and addressing hazards, and advising organisations (governmental and business) on how to best optimise the health of their most important asset – their employees – while understanding legal issues surrounding workplace safety and employment equality.
This programme enhances the skills required to identify important clinical features, occupational risks and formulate effective management plans for patients and employers.
Who is this programme aimed at?
The programme is aimed at physicians in primary, secondary, and tertiary care who wish to consult on health and wellbeing in the workplace and manage patients with work related problems at a non-specialist level. As such, participants should be qualified doctors registered with their respective professional body.
The programme will be conducted online and solely in English. Participants are required to be proficient in English and to have access to a laptop with a microphone, speakers, webcam, and reliable broadband coverage.
