The Institute of Medicine is pleased to continue Hot Topics for Acute Physicians which is a monthly webinar series discussing topics relevant to the acute physician in specialties across the spectrum of medicine.
This webinar will focus on Hot Topics in Intensive Care Medicine and is a must-attend event for anyone working or interested in the area of Intensive Care Medicine. During the webinar, you will hear from expert speakers who will put a spotlight on the hottest and most relevant topics.
This live webinar is available to Members and Fellows of RCPI, doctors on RCPI training programmes, doctors on RCPI Professional Competence Schemes, all other interested physicians working in medicine, or indeed outside of medicine.
This event is a benefit of your Membership and Fellowship and is FREE for RCPI Trainees, Members and Fellows who are in good standing. There is a €50.00 fee for all other attendees.

Enda is a consultant intensivist and ICU Clinical Lead in St James’s Hospital, a senior lecturer in Trinity College Dublin and the Chair of Training with the Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine of Ireland. Research interests focus mainly on medical education in the intensive care and anaesthesia settings. When not working in medicine, Enda is frequently to be found recording and playing music with the originals band Serial Sevens and the covers band The Metabollix.
Dr Bates graduated from NUIG in 1993 and completed internship and 2 years of internal medicine training in Galway before going on to complete Anaesthesiology training in Ireland (CST in 2002). He then spent a further three years training in Intensive Care medicine in Australia (The Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, and Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne) before returning to take up a position as Consultant Intensivist/Anaesthetist at University Hospital Galway. He was Director of ICU at UHG from 2003 to 2007 and Dean of the Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine of Ireland from 2018-2021. He is Clinical lead for critical care medicine for the Saolta Hospital Group and personal professor of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care medicine at NUIG.

To join this webinar on Zoom you will need a computer (Windows or Apple) or mobile device with internet access and speakers.
If you're joining the webinar on a computer you can use the Zoom desktop website. You do not need to download the Zoom app - if you see a pop up message about the app, you can dismiss this.

When you click on the link for "Join the Live Webinar" you will see a message asking you to open Zoom. Click on “Open Zoom”.
You will then be asked for your name and email address. Once you’ve entered these details, click on “Join Webinar”.
