Bedside teaching is a specialised form of small group teaching when the patient is present. It is most often associated with teaching on the hospital ward but it can also be done in Outpatients, in General Practice or long term care facilities.
Bedside teaching is important because it allows us integrate both the theory and practical side of medicine with patient contact and it also allows us develop our skills in empathising with the patient.
This online course provides expert advice on techniques for effective bedside teaching.
You will learn about the importance of bedside teaching, how to best conduct a training session at a patient's bedside and the needs of the patient and all others involved.

- Effectively plan a bedside teaching session including obtaining patient consent
- Deliver an effective bedside teaching session
- Evaluate a bedside teaching session and plan to improve based on the evaluation
