About This Course

This course will help you develop the knowledge and skills required for managing a pathology laboratory. You will learn about laboratory organisation, risk management, financial management, informatics, clinical aspects, quality assurance and accreditation.

This is a blended course that includes online learning material and a virtual tutorial. The online material is available through Brightspace. The course is no longer broken down into Core Pathology 1, 2 & 3; they have been combined under 'Core Pathology'.

• Describe the essentials of laboratory financial management

• Use clinical laboratory informatics effectively

• Describe the concept of Lean Six Sigma and the pathology laboratory

• Explain the process of accreditation and certification of a pathology laboratory

• Explain the importance and mechanism of quality assurance and systems

This course is mandatory for HST Trainees in Pathology and is suitable for all doctors in Pathology specialties.
