About This Course

This is a three-day course which covers theoretical and practical aspects of patch testing including basic principles, testing, associated conditions and reporting.

The course includes hands-on practice as well as site visit and clinics visit. The course will be delivered via lectures, Q&A, hands on practice and sites visit. The course if suitable for SpRs in Dermatology. 

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, participants will be able to perform patch tests for dermatological conditions associated with allergens. In addition, participants will be able to identify common irritants, conditions and their management. Finally, participants will be able to prepare associated medical reports. Topics covered as part of the course include:

  • Patch testing

- Basic principles

- Pharmacy preparation patch tests

  • Irritant contact dermatitis

- Rubber/latex allergy

- Plant Dermatitis

- Fragrances

  • Treatment (including steroids)
  • Conditions

- Face eczema

- Hand Eczema (excluding ICD)

- Occupational dermatoses

  •  Medicolegal Reports
