The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland is hosting COVID-19: A clinical perspective for clinicians on Wednesday 18 March 2020. The event is available to watch live online or view at a webcast centre (please check local arrangements).

You must register in advance to watch this event or watch at one of our webcast centres. 

Presented jointly by the Institute of Medicine and Infectious Diseases Society of Ireland this event is open to all healthcare professionals and will be available to watch live online or at one of our webcast centre. The event will be opened by Prof Colm Henry, Chief Clinical Officer, Health 

Registration is required for both viewing at a webcast centre or watching live online. Choose from the options below to book your place. 

Who you will hear from

Dr Catherine Fleming, consultant in infectious diseases and National Specialty Director of Infectious Diseases at RCPI, is Clinical Lead and organiser of this event. 

Speakers include: 

  • Prof Colm Bergin, Consultant Physician in Infectious Diseases, St James’s Hospital, Dublin and Clinical Professor of Medicine at Trinity College Dublin. 
  • Dr Cillian De Gascun, Director of the National Virus Reference Laboratory and Chair of the HSE’s Coronavirus Expert Advisory Group. 
  • Dr Aoife Coffer, Consultant in Infectious Diseases at the Mater Misericordiae and St Vincent’s University Hospitals. 
  • Dr Lynda Sisson, Dean of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. 
  • Dr Fiona Cianci, Specialist in Public Health Medicine working at HPSC

Watching this event live 

You must register in advance for this event via the RCPI website and specify when booking that you will be logging in to watch live by selecting the Live Stream option. If you are logging in to watch live you must sign into RCPI Brightspace on 18 March by 5pm GMT and follow the instructions for how to watch.

How to watch live

1. Book your place via the RCPI website. Live streaming is now fully booked - You can still join by attending a webcast centre.

2. On Brightspace you will see COVID-19: A clinical perspective for clinicians Online Viewing Option. Click on this.

3. Navigate to Watch Live.

4. Input the required details (your RCPI number and email address).

5. Once the page has loaded hit play.

6. The feed will be live at 5pm on the event day but we recommend logging in ten minutes ahead of time.
