Learn to recognise the signs of child abuse and know what to do next

This workshop, developed for NCHDs working with children, provides expert training on recognising the signs of child abuse and neglect.

You will learn how to respond appropriately and how to work with other professionals and parents.

The workshop features simulated clinical scenarios, at which you can practice essential skills.

This course is mandatory for trainees in Basic Specialist Training in Paediatrics.

On completion of this course, you will be able to

  • Understand your role in the multi-agency safeguarding process
  • Recognise, assess, investigate and manage suspected child maltreatment
  • Act in accordance with statutory and non-statutory guidance and legislation
  • Support other professionals working in the area of child abuse and neglect
  • Document suspected abuse appropriately
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and improve outcomes for their wellbeing
