The BST Leadership in Clinical Practice programme is designed to support the professional development of doctors undertaking Basic Specialist Training. It covers communication, teamwork, personal effectiveness, presentation and teaching skills, and professionalism. 

BST Leadership in Clinical Practice is a blended learning programme. It consists of three separate courses:

1. Leadership in Clinical Practice: Online course available on RCPI , 4 hours

2.Leadership in Clinical Practice: Communication Skills blended course with online content and short virtual tutorial, 1.5 hour online content, 2.5 hour tutorial

3. Leadership in Clinical Practice: Leadership Skills virtual tutorials consisting of 4 sessions across 2 days.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this programme, participants will be able to:

- Explain key features of a safety culture
- List ways to identify issues and measure harm
- Describe interventions to improve reliability of care

- Deliver presentations effectively 
- Influence others effectively

- Identify when it is easy or difficult to be assertive 
- Seek and deliver effective feedback
