Master the use of SPSS to analyse your research data
About This Course
This course is designed for doctors who are currently undertaking research using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) to analyse their research data.
Course Format
This is a two-day virtual workshop. You will have the opportunity to practice inputting, analysing and displaying data.
Recommended reading: SPSS Survival Manual by Julie Pallant.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course you should be able to:
• Navigate the main SPSS windows/menus
• Input data from varied sources
• Have an approach to data classification, so that tests are appropriate to data types
• Process and organise data: in terms of recoding and calculating
• Analyse data using appropriate basic statistical tests
• Generate simple programming routines for repetitive procedures
• Produce outputs and reports based on data analysis.

This course is open to all doctors. Priority will be given to doctors on RCPI training programmes.
